Response to Gov. Newsom's statewide order on COVID-19

This evening, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statewide Shelter in Place Order in response to the continued spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) across the state.

In his order, the governor ordered all Californians to stay at home, except "as needed to maintain continuity of operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors," defined here.

Governor Newsom indicated specific exemptions would be identified over the coming days. Our advocates at the Capitol are communicating with the governor's office, sharing AGC's desired clarification surrounding construction exemptions.

We reached out to Caltrans leadership and confirmed their work is considered essential and will continue as usual.

AGC of California's Government Affairs team will be on the COVID-19 Update Webinar tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. to address this latest development.

Construction is essential to the success of our state, especially during times of crisis. We will continue to advocate for our industry so you can do what you do best—build California.
