The mission of the Associated General Contractors of California is to be the recognized leader in providing business opportunities, education, training, resources, and advocacy for its members while advancing sound public policy for the construction industry.

Principles
Membership in AGC of California is open to any company in the construction industry which adheres to the principles of Skill, Integrity and Responsibility:
- Skill –Technical knowledge and practical experience to execute the projects ina a professional, efficient and safe manner.
- Integrity –Character to honor the spirit and letter of every contract undertaken.
- Responsibility –Organization and financial resources to fulfill all commitments promptly and completely.
Membership
AGC of California represents nearly 600 Contractor and Specialty Contractor members. The annual construction volume of these members range from less than $500,000 to over $100,000,000.
Construction projects by AGC members include commercial and residential buildings, highways, roads, tunnels, dams, utility systems, power plants, bridges, refineries, hospitals, schools, sewage and waste treatment plants, rail transit systems and building restoration.
AGC of California is supported by more than 500 Associate members. These Associate members include suppliers, attorneys, bankers, accountants, insurers, consultants, and other industry-related firms.
National Affiliation
Representing its members at all levels of government, AGC of California is one of the largest Chapters of the Associated General Contractors of America. The national organization is based in Washington, D.C., and represents more than 33,000 leading firms in the industry - including general contractors, specialty contractors and services providers and suppliers.
Service Area
The area served by the Association includes every county of California except San Diego which is governed by the San Diego Chapter of AGC of America.
This service area is divided into 13 Districts: Eureka, Shasta, Delta-Sierra, North Bay, San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Clara, Monterey Bay, San Joaquin, Tri-Counties, Los Angeles, Orange County and Riverside/San Bernardino.
AGC is governed by a State Board of Directors. Locally, each District is governed by its own Board of Directors. In addition, members serve on a variety of committees which address industry issues.
Offices
AGC members are supported by 38 staff members in seven offices. The AGC State Office is located in West Sacramento. Regional offices are located in Concord and West Covina. District offices are located in Redding, Fresno, Santa Barbara and San Bernardino.
