Who We are
Founded in 1920, the Associated General Contractors of California is the premier organization of choice for both experienced and next generation construction and contracting professionals. Through dedicated advocacy, education, career development and networking opportunities, AGC members receive top-tier access with state and local governments, while connecting with industry leaders through responsive services and innovative programs and events.
The mission of the Associated General Contractors of California is to be the recognized leader in providing business opportunities, education, training, resources, and advocacy for its members while advancing sound public policy for the construction industry.
AGC Members Span a Diverse Industry
With more than 1,000 contractors, specialty, and associate member companies throughout California, AGC members represent the full spectrum of the construction industry. The annual construction volume of these members range from less than $100,000 to more than $100 billion. Our member companies range from some of the state's smallest business enterprises to some of the nation's largest construction companies and are owned by shareholders, families and individuals.
AGC members build California's highways, roads, tunnels, dams, utility systems, power plants, bridges, refineries, hospitals, schools, sewage and waste treatment plants, rail transit systems, office buildings and building restoration.
Representing its members at all levels of government, AGC of California is one of the largest Chapters of the Associated General Contractors of America. The national organization is based in Washington, D.C. and represents more than 26,000 firms in the industry - including general contractors, specialty contractors and services providers and suppliers, all through a nationwide network of chapters.
The area served by the Association includes every county of California except San Diego which is governed by the San Diego Chapter of AGC of America. This service area is divided into 12 Districts: Eureka, Shasta, Delta-Sierra, North Bay, San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Clara, Monterey Bay, San Joaquin, Tri-Counties, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside-San Bernardino
