The Communications & Marketing Director will help guide the strategy and implementation for all communications and marketing activities to consistently articulate AGC’s mission. The director will ensure that AGC is viewed as the primary source, disseminator and conduit of information within the diverse network and membership, develop and disseminate digital and traditional media materials, and ensure that communications and marketing activities are in line with the annual strategic plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports VP, Strategic Communications in day-to-day work.
  • Manages two non-exempt staff (Senior Digital Coordinator and Graphic Design Coordinator) and schedules
  • Supports content strategy and creation across all physical and digital marketing channels including association website, marketing collateral, presentations and videos, social media and marketing outreach.
  • Develops & manages social and digital media content calendar in support of the associations editorial calendar.
  • Lead coordinator on all association social media accounts and supports social media and digital communities via regular, active posts and information sharing.
  • Continuously improves social engagement by researching audiences’ preferences, discovering trends and tracking/capturing website, social media e-blast analytics, insights and best practices.
  • Primary point of contact for internal staff, initiating work within department or checking the status of projects already in progress.
  • Primary point of contact for external design, video and other production vendors.
  • Creates original content and solicits copy and edits for e-blasts publications and Association website.
  • Creates low level graphics and marketing collateral within existing association brand standards and materials.
  • Coordinates with Constructor Magazine article authors and editor to meet deadlines for publication.
  • Builds and maintains a network of media contacts at a wide variety of media outlets and uses this network effectively to publicize Association activities.
  • Manages outside vendors (membership directory, graphic design, etc)
  • Consistently monitors industry publications and stays abreast of construction news, trends and services and identifies media opportunities. Develops quarterly media reports.
  • Occasional travel to regional & statewide events on weekdays and weekends.
  • Provides back-up program coordination and administrative support to other association programs/services as necessary and/or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: his position supervises two non-exempt staff in the communications department. This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
