AGC of California Joins with BuildOUT California: World’s First Industry Association Dedicated to Sustainable Growth of LGBTQ+ Owned and Certified Businesses
Partnership Shows Strong Commitment to LGBTQ+ Businesses and Entrepreneurs from Premiere Organization for Contracting & Construction Industry
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Associated General Contractors of California (AGC) and AGC Construction Education Foundation (www.agc-ca.org) have launched a landmark new partnership with BuildOUT California (www.buildoutcalifornia.org), the world’s first industry association dedicated to the sustainable growth of LGBTQ+ owned and certified businesses. The collaboration with California’s premiere organization representing the construction and contracting industry is the latest example of BuildOUT California’s rapid and respected impact on its member organizations. Founded in the middle of 2020, BuildOUT has quickly become recognized at all levels of the State government and by industry leaders across the board.
The Associated General Contractors of California (AGC) and AGC Construction Education Foundation (AGC CEF), in partnership with construction technology provider HammerTech, are pleased to announce the recipients of the AGC Safety Professional Scholarship! The scholarship, valued at approximately $1,500 each, has been awarded to four individuals who are current safety professionals pursuing additional/advanced certification at AGC member companies.
Last week, AGC of California earned a major victory for contractors working on projects which require the disposal of treated wood waste. Earlier this month, California Department Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) notified companies that regulations that allowed for treated wood waste to be handled with alternative management standards were set to expire after December 31, 2020. After that date, all hazardous treated wood waste managed in California would have had to be stored and manifested as hazardous waste and transported to class I hazardous waste landfills for disposal.

Based on the new Cal/OSHA Emergency Regulations for COVID-19 Prevention, we recognize that members have a higher need for on-site COVID-19 testing. For that reason, AGC of California is proud to partner with Innovative Human Performance Safety (IHP Safety) to bring our members on-site diagnostic polymerize chain reaction (PCR) testing for COVID-19. This testing is considered highly reliable and results have an average 24-hour turnaround period.
