The Emerging Leaders Academy is designed to build a strong foundation for emerging construction managers. With a focus on developing essential management skills and gaining industry insights, this program empowers participants to know themselves, know their industry, and set their course for a successful future in construction leadership.

Submitting an application does not ensure acceptance into the program. Each year, a maximum of 30 participants will be selected, with preference given to employees of AGC member companies.

What is the Curriculum?

Leadership Development:

Self-Awareness: Explore strategies and frameworks for increasing self-awareness, a crucial skill for effective leadership.
Effective Communication: Learn methods to communicate effectively with your team and stakeholders.
Positive Accountability: Create systems of positive accountability to ensure team success.
Priority Management: Master the art of managing priorities to stay organized and efficient.
Constructive Feedback: Develop the ability to provide constructive feedback that fosters growth and improvement.

Construction Industry:

Accounting and Financial Management: Gain essential knowledge in financial management specific to the construction industry.
Project Planning and Scheduling: Learn the intricacies of planning and scheduling to keep projects on track.
Controls and Bidding: Understand the controls and bidding processes to secure and manage projects effectively.
Construction Project Management: Acquire the skills needed to manage construction projects from start to finish.

This program is ideal for construction professionals starting their careers or aspiring to manage people and project teams. Join us to build a solid foundation for your future in construction leadership.

Emerging Professionals: In the early to mid-stages of their construction careers, they are eager to take on more responsibility, develop leadership skills, and contribute to their community.
HR Professionals: AGC of California is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®. This program is valid for 64 (sixty four) PDC for the SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit www.shrmcertification.org. AGC of California is recognized by HRCI to offer recertification credits. This program is valid for 64 (sixty-four) credits. CEU: This year-long leadership development program consists of 200 hours of structured learning and professional development activities. Participants who successfully complete all program requirements may be eligible to earn 20.0 IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

To successfully complete the program and earn CEUs, participants must:
- Attendance: Attend all required instructional sessions and program activities.
- Active Participation: Engage in discussions, group exercises, collaborative activities, and other required learning experiences.
- Make-Up Work: Complete all approved make-up assignments or activities for any missed sessions within established deadlines.
- Assignments & Homework: Complete and submit all required assignments, homework, and other learning activities.
- Demonstration of Learning: Satisfactorily demonstrate achievement of the program’s established learning outcomes through required assignments, activities, and assessments.
AGC of California will monitor and document attendance, participation, assignment completion, and fulfillment of make-up requirements throughout the program.

CEUs will be awarded only after all program completion requirements have been verified. Participants who do not fulfill the established requirements will not be eligible to receive the full 20.0 CEUs.
