AGC Student Chapters

My experience with the AGC C2C Mentorship program was amazing. It was so helpful to have direct guidance on things I felt unsure about, and I felt incredibly supported both when I was looking for new job opportunities and as I was trying to grow as a professional. The program definitely boosted my confidence and got me even more excited for my future in construction.

If I had to pick the main skills I really strengthened, I definitely built up the confidence to naturally network and talk with industry professionals. I also gained a lot of insight when it comes to making construction related decisions, and I learned to never be afraid to ask questions because so many professionals are truly willing to help. Finally, it really helped me polish how I present myself to the industry, from fine tuning my resume and LinkedIn to practicing my elevator speech.

Jerardo shared that “the only reason [he] even got to go to CONSTRUCT was because of [the AGC Student Chapter] sponsorship,” noting that their sponsor's support opened additional student spots and made the trip possible. Once there, the CONSTRUCT Career Fair became a key starting point in Jerardo's career journey: “It all started at CONSTRUCT when [he] first talked to McCarthy and connected with one of the recruiters through LinkedIn.” That first connection helped set a clear goal to pursue McCarthy Building Co., and through continued involvement, resume-building, and follow-up relationship development, the student ultimately secured a project internship with McCarthy’s National Water Group.

Hazel shared that attending CONSTRUCT 2025 "was extremely beneficial to [her] understanding of the industry. The panels allowed [her] to get even a glimpse of what was truly happening within the world of construction and the meet and greets were fantastic for connecting with industry professionals that [she] knows [she] can reach out to for years to come."

Through the AGC Student Chapter sponsorship with Granite Construction, more students were able to attend the conference, participate in relationship-building opportunities, and engage in a more personal setting with industry leaders. The Career Fair, interview suites, and networking opportunities allowed her to strengthen connections, introduce herself to company representatives, and build relationships that will support her career well beyond graduation. She is now working full-time with Hensel Phelps.

I noticed there wasn’t a solid place at UC Davis to explore the construction industry beyond the competitive, technical focus of existing clubs. Seeing the success of AGC chapters at other campuses, I wanted to bring those resources and opportunities here. Our main goal is to build a community where people feel comfortable making connections and learning about the industry outside of high-pressure settings
