Port of Oakland Liaison Meeting Draws Strong Member Engagement

More than 50 AGC of California members representing a wide swath of member companies – including primes, specialty contractors, subcontractors, and professional service firms – participated in the July AGC/Port of Oakland Liaison Meeting. This turnout underscores the industry’s strong interest in the Port’s upcoming capital program, and long‑range infrastructure needs.

Port leadership outlined several major capital packages moving toward procurement, including maritime infrastructure upgrades, landside modernization, environmental compliance improvements, and long‑term terminal enhancements. Multiple Port tenants also provided detailed updates on the Clean Port Program, highlighting planned zero‑emission equipment transitions, electrification work, and grant‑funded capital projects tied to the Port’s zero‑emissions goals.

For contractors, this meeting offered valuable early visibility into the Port’s upcoming workload. Port staff shared preliminary information on anticipated bid packages, delivery schedules, prequalification requirements, and permitting considerations, giving AGC members a chance to raise project‑critical questions around design coordination, utility conflicts, site access, and construction sequencing. This level of early engagement helps contractors evaluate upcoming opportunities and prepare teams, partnerships, and capacity ahead of formal procurement.

AGC of California will continue working closely with the Port to ensure members receive early and consistent visibility into upcoming contracting opportunities, project timelines, and procurement pathways.
