AGC of California recently hosted Senate President pro Tempore Monique Limón for a jobsite tour of Granite Construction’s Highway 101 project in Santa Barbara, joined by representatives from Caltrans and the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG). The visit brought together industry and public-sector partners to showcase the project’s progress and discuss the realities of delivering major transportation infrastructure in California.
Throughout the tour, participants highlighted the project’s successes and the benefits of alternative delivery methods, including enhanced collaboration and the ability to address challenges earlier in the construction process. The group also discussed the complexities associated with delivering large-scale transportation projects and emphasized the critical need for reliable, long-term state funding to provide certainty for contractors and public agencies planning future infrastructure investments.
