Associate Achievement Award

This award honors the hard work and dedication of exceptional AGC of California Associate Members. To be eligible, an Associate Member must have been engaged in providing a product or service to the construction industry for a minimum of 15 years, be an AGC of California member in good standing or member-in-retirement. Qualified nominees will have made a significant contribution to the construction industry and be held in esteem by his/her peers.

Contractor Achievement Award

This award recognizes the significant contributions to AGC of California and the construction industry by individual member contractors. To be eligible, a person must have worked in the construction industry for a minimum of 25 years, be an AGC of California member in good standing or a member-in-retirement and be held in esteem by his/her peers. No AGC of California Past President shall be eligible for this award.

S.I.R. Achievement Award

This award honors Skill, Integrity and Responsibility. To be eligible, the individual may be from the public or private sector and must have made an outstanding contribution to California’s construction industry. No employee or member of the association shall be eligible for the S.I.R. Award.

Specialty Contractor Achievement Award

This award recognizes the significant contributions to AGC of California and the construction industry by individual member specialty contractors. To be eligible, a person must have worked in the construction industry for a minimum of 15 years, be an AGC of California member in good standing or a member-in-retirement of the AGC of California and be held in esteem by his/her peers. No Past President of the AGC of California shall be eligible for this award.

Associate Achievement Award
Dr. Giovanna Brasfield, CEO & Principal Consultant, Brasfield & Associates

Dr. Giovanna Brasfield (Dr. G) is an award-winning chief executive officer and principal consultant for Brasfield & Associates, a consulting firm that helps leaders and organizations build more culturally diverse, equitable and inclusive workspaces.

Dr. G helps hundreds of industry leaders and organizations leave the status quo behind and step into meaningful, measurable and sustainable DE&I strategies. Her deep involvement with AGC of California includes serving as a director of CEF and chair of the DE&I Steering Committee.

She also serves as board chair of RAND’s Center to Advance Racial Equity Policy (CAREP) and on the board of West Angeles Community Development Corporation. Dr. G’s many accolades and awards include: 2022 Women Empowerment Award from the YWCA Glendale-Pasadena Chapter, 2022 Inspirational Women Nominee by the Los Angeles Times, 2021 Outstanding Women in Construction by the Construction Business Owner magazine, a 2021 LA County Impact Maker by Stratiscope, 2020 Mujer del Año (Woman of the Year) by the Regional Hispanic Institute, and Game Changer by Diversity Professional magazine.

Specialty Contractor Achievement Award
Nataline Lomedico, CEO & President, Giroux Glass Inc.

Serving as Giroux Glass Inc.’s chief executive officer and president since 2015, Nataline Lomedico has played a pivotal role in the company’s success and growth as an inspirational leader and the driving force behind the company’s transition to full-employee ownership. In her previous role as chief financial officer, Lomedico was integral to the company’s financial strategies and responsible for all financial aspects and risk management operations.

With over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, Lomedico has served as controller to large corporations, run her own small business, and helped grow small-to-midsize construction companies. She has been invited by various organizations in the U.S., as well as Germany, to speak about company culture, succession planning, women in construction, strategic planning, and effective leadership.

She is an active AGC of California participant, supporting Emerging Leaders and specialty contractor efforts. Lomedico spoke at 2019 AGC of California’s Small Business Construction Expo (SBCX) and is a member of the Small Business Forum. She is currently a member of NAWIC, CFMA, ASA, AGC, ESOP Association, NCEO, Vistage, and LAEDC. She was appointed to join the executive board of LAEDC, where she plans to make a positive contribution to the future growth and prosperity of Los Angeles.

S.I.R. Achievement Award
Jose Mejia, Former Director of the California State Council of Laborers

Jose Mejia is a 42-year member of the Laborers (LiUNA) and has been retired since March 2021. He served as director of the California State Council of Laborers from 2004 to 2021 and director of research from 1999 to 2004.

As director, he engaged in multiple endeavors including policy, regulatory affairs, and health and safety issues affecting LiUNA members and all workers. Mejia’s work with the Department of Transportation was instrumental to ensuring employers doing business with Caltrans were reimbursed when additional safety protections were provided to workers but not required in any work specifications.

Over the years, Mejia has worked with AGC of California to ensure contractors were appointed to key boards and commissions – guaranteeing members have integral roles in the construction industry’s decision-making process. Mejia is known for his ability to balance industry issues between associations and independent employers. He advocated for important legislation throughout his career including the addition of industry funds to prevailing wage laws co-sponsored by AGC of California and LiUNA.

Contractor Achievement Award
Dan McGrew, Vice President Business Development, Griffith Company (Retired)

Dan McGrew, now retired, served as the vice president of business development for Griffith Company, where he excelled at finding opportunities in existing and potential markets, developed Griffith Company’s image on the web, and oversaw their government affairs program. As part of the construction industry since 1988, McGrew wore many hats during his time with Griffith Company. Starting as a chief estimator and project manager in 1988, he has also served as vice president and district manager before moving on to his role as vice president of business development in 2009.

McGrew’s AGC of California journey began with his service on the Orange County Board of Directors in 1998. He has served on many committees such as the Joint Engineering Committee, PAC Committee, Legislative Committee, Awards Committee, and more.

Additionally, McGrew has worked with Southern California’s Partnership for Jobs, the Construction Industry Coalition on Water Quality, Laborers Pension Board of Trustees, Transportation California, the Road Improvement Program, and the Construction Industry Advancement Fund.
