LA Metro and CALGreen Code: What You Need to Know

LA Metro is providing attendees with key information about California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) requirements, in addition to LA Metro’s code compliance process through our Sustainability Plan Program. Our objective is to support contractors’ who may work on Metro capital projects with complex CALGreen Code requirements.
About the Instructors
Mr. Tauchen is the Sustainability Program Manager for ESD and holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, is an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP). Prior to joining Metro, he worked for several governmental government agencies including the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) and the Airforce Civil Engineering Center.
Ms. Schweitzer has been supporting Metro’s Sustainability Program since 2019 and is currently our Assistant Sustainability Program Manager. She is an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), and Certified CALGreen Inspector / Plans Examiner.
Since CALGreen came to be in 2007, she was an inaugural Governor Appointee to the California Green Building Standards Code Advisory Committee, and reappointed for the last 12 years, as 1 of 9 voting members, and Technical Advisor to state agencies, including Department of Government Services, Building and Standards Commission, Housing & Community Development, Division of State Architect, California Public Utilities Commission, and California Energy Commission.
Ms. Schweitzer has pioneered sustainable real estate development practices since the early 1990’s; is an internationally recognized leader in the field, author speaker, consultant, and adjunct professor. She holds a Master of Real Estate Development degree from USC, has completed the Advanced Management Development Program at Harvard Graduate School of Design, and Bachelor of Science in Economics from Truman State University.
