This course provides essential training on the safe use of respiratory protective equipment in
workplaces where airborne hazards may be present, in compliance with Cal/OSHA, Title 8, Sectio
n5144 – Respiratory Protection.
Participants will learn to identify common respiratory hazards, understand when respirators are
required, and select appropriate types of respirators (such as air-purifying and atmosphere supplying
models). Key topics include proper respirator selection, donning/doffing procedures, fit
testing (qualitative and quantitative), medical evaluation requirements, inspection, cleaning,
maintenance, storage, and limitations of respirators.
The training emphasizes the components of an effective respiratory protection program, including
hazard assessment, proper usage to prevent exposure, and annual retraining obligations. Upon
completion, participants will be able to recognize respiratory risks, use respirators correctly to
protect their health, and contribute to workplace safety compliance.
