Building a Stronger Ecosystem: AGC Welcomes Professional Services Firms and Updates Membership Classifications

AGC of California is proud to continue evolving to meet the needs of California’s construction industry.

This month, the association is introducing a new membership category: Professional Services Firms, for companies specializing in construction management, representing owners, architecture and engineering, and testing and quality assurance. These firms are essential partners in California’s construction future, working alongside contractors and owners on projects that power our economy and strengthen our communities.

By formally welcoming these firms into AGC, the association is broadening its ecosystem while keeping general contractors at the heart of who we are. This initiative creates more opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and shared success, ensuring every partner in the project delivery process has a seat at the table.

As part of these discussions, the Board also reviewed AGC’s existing membership structure and identified opportunities for greater clarity. The Associate membership classification, which has long encompassed suppliers and service providers, no longer clearly reflected the scope or identity of those members. To better align with industry terminology and member roles, the Board has approved renaming this category to Suppliers/Service Providers.

Together, these updates modernize AGC’s membership framework to reflect today’s construction landscape, ensuring that the entire construction ecosystem is represented in building California’s future.
