Associates Council
Associate members who sit on this council assist in the development of District, Regional, and Statewide programs and activities, as well as membership development. The CLC helps cultivate the next generation of leaders in California’s construction industry through networking and professional development opportunities. Learn more.
Legal Advisory Committee
The Legal Advisory Committee (LAC) is AGC’s largest Committee and is comprised entirely of lawyers, many of which are nationally recognized construction law experts. The committee staffs AGC’ Legal Hotline, a free service to AGC of California members that provides legal information to provide contractors a basis for making sound business decisions. Legislative Committee
This Committee reviews and monitors the legislative activities of the Association. During a single legislative session, the AGC Legislative Committee may track as many as 3,000 bills. Committee members read, discuss, and take positions on bills as they affect the construction industry. Members of the Committee assist and advise the AGC’s legislative advocates and sometimes provides testimony before legislative bodies. Committee membership is by appointment of the Chair or the President, with emphasis on geographical and work style representation. Contact Manny Leon for more information at leonm@agc-ca.org.
Open Shop Contractors Council
This statewide council is responsible for considering issues of interest to open shop contractors. The council reviews such issues as prevailing wage, training opportunities, and ongoing member education. Meetings are held at the call of the Chair, typically in conjunction with AGC’s State Board meetings. Contact membership@agc-ca.org for more information.
Political Action Committees
AGC of California has a Candidates PAC and Issues PAC that collect and contribute money to support candidates or ballot measures/proposals respectively that protect the interests of, support, or strengthen the construction industry. We also offer the AGC 120 Club, which recognizes individuals who contribute $1,000 during a calendar year to AGC PAC and provides members exclusive opportunities to become further involved in the political arena. Safety & Health Council
SHC is a network of experienced safety and health professionals who meet to share technical and professional information on safety and health matters, Cal-OSHA standards and enforcement procedures as well as responding to member needs and providing practical and cost-effective solutions to safety, health and workers’ compensation challenges. Small Business Council
The Small Business Council offers small contractors access to training, education, and resources, as well as access to AGC’s network of general contractors and public agencies to grow and scale their business. Contact Erin Volk at volke@agc-ca.org for more information.
Specialty Contractors Council
The Specialty Contractors Council was created to provide a forum for specialty members to exchange ideas and review industry trends. The Council is open to all specialty contractor members and meets in conjunction with AGC’s State Board of Directors meetings. Contact membership@agc-ca.org for more information.
Union Contractors Council, Northern and Southern California
Meeting regularly in their respective areas, these councils manage AGC’s collective bargaining efforts. Council members must be union contractors, with their power of attorney assigned to AGC for at least one of the basic craft Master Labor Agreements.
